Dentovox does both jobs. The AI receptionist answers every call 24/7 in English and Spanish and books into Dentrix, Open Dental or Eaglesoft. The Reactivation Engine calls the lapsed patients on a list you upload and books the ones ready to return; automatic selection from your PMS and per-campaign revenue reporting are built and not yet switched on. Both are included from $499 a month.
Status of every capability below as of September 15, 2026
Vendors use "recovery" for very different things. These are the workflows practices usually mean, with a plain status for each: Live works today, Built is finished and switches on when a named dependency clears, Not offered means Dentovox does not do it.
| Capability | What it means | Dentovox today |
|---|---|---|
| 24/7 inbound answering | Every call picked up, nights, weekends and simultaneous lines | Live — English and Spanish, detected from the caller's first words |
| Booking into the PMS | The appointment written into the schedule during the call | Live — Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft through NexHealth, with a double-booking guard |
| Lapsed-patient reactivation | Calling patients who have not visited in a long time | Live — outbound calls, in the patient's language, to a list you upload. Automatic selection by last visit date from the PMS is built, not yet switched on |
| Overdue hygiene recall | Calling patients due for a cleaning | Built — automatic selection switches on when the PMS connection supplies recall due dates; an uploaded recall list can be called today |
| Unscheduled treatment follow-up | Calling patients with treatment planned but not booked | Built — automatic selection switches on when the PMS connection supplies treatment-plan values |
| Revenue recovered | Showing what reactivation actually booked | Built — the dashboard has a campaign funnel and recovered value, but call outcomes are not yet linked to campaigns, so it does not count bookings yet |
| Missed-call recovery | Following up on calls nobody answered | Calls are answered live instead of missed; unfinished calls become a callback request for your team. No automatic callback campaign |
| Confirmations and reminders | Texts before the appointment, with replies | Built — two-way SMS switches on after US carrier registration (A2P 10DLC) |
| Last-minute cancellation fill | Offering a freed slot to patients waiting for an earlier time | Built — waitlist matching works; the offer is sent by text after carrier registration |
| No-show recovery outreach | Contacting patients who missed an appointment | Not offered — no-shows are tracked in analytics |
| Handoff to a person | What happens when the AI should not handle a call | Transfer to the line you set during office hours (not yet tested on a live clinic call); urgent callback request outside them |
| Live call monitoring | Seeing calls as they happen | Live call view today; listen-in and take-over coming soon |
| Compliance | HIPAA posture and audits | HIPAA-aware, BAA accepted before go-live; Dentovox has not completed its own SOC 2 audit yet |
The receptionist side is covered in depth on the AI receptionist page, and the recovery side on the patient reactivation page. How forwarding works without changing your phone system is in this guide.
A number labelled "recovered" is only as good as its definition, so here is ours. The dashboard has a funnel (enrolled, contacted, booked) and a recovered value per campaign. Linking each outbound call's outcome to its campaign is built but not yet switched on, so today that report does not count bookings; once it does, a patient who books on a reactivation call is attributed to that campaign.
These are estimates of value booked, not collected production. To size the opportunity before you start, the ROI calculator works from your own call volume and patient numbers.
| Plan | Monthly | Minutes | Receptionist | Reactivation Engine |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Overflow | $299 | 400 | After hours and overflow | — |
| Front Desk | $499 | 650 | 24/7 | Included |
| Revenue | $749 | 1,000 | 24/7 | Included, plus revenue-recovered ROI analytics (built, not yet counting reactivation bookings) |
| Multi-Location | $649 per location | 900 | 24/7 | Included |
Extra minutes are $0.39 on every plan, annual billing saves 10%, and English and Spanish are included throughout. Full detail on the pricing page.
Whichever platform you evaluate, these questions separate what works today from what is on a roadmap:
Yes. Dentovox answers inbound calls 24/7 in English and Spanish and books into the practice management system, and its Reactivation Engine calls the lapsed patients on a list you upload and books the ones ready to return into the schedule. Both are included from the Front Desk plan at $499 a month.
Not automatically yet. Dentovox has an unscheduled-treatment segment whose call explains that the practice would like to help the patient finish their treatment plan, but it switches on only when the practice management connection supplies treatment-plan values. Today reactivation calls go to the patients on a list you upload.
It prevents most of them: every line is answered live, including nights, weekends and simultaneous calls. When the AI cannot finish a call, a callback request with the caller's number and reason appears in the dashboard for your team. Dentovox does not run an automatic callback campaign to abandoned calls today.
Not with outreach today. No-shows are tracked in the dashboard analytics, and reminders that reduce them are built but switch on after US carrier registration. Dentovox does not currently run a no-show recovery campaign.
Dentovox includes the AI receptionist and the Reactivation Engine from Front Desk at $499 a month with 650 minutes, Revenue at $749 with 1,000 minutes, and Multi-Location at $649 per location with 900 minutes. Extra minutes are $0.39 and annual billing saves 10%. The $299 Overflow plan covers answering only.
